Info from Michael Camp

I used to work on these machines at Hilger and Watts in Camden Town in the X-Ray Dept managed by Derek Goggrave. I was an Instrument Technician apprentice with H&W and I ended it in the X-Ray dept, around 1966 and stayed there working on the Y290, setting up and testing, then installing on the customer's site. When H&W moved to Thanet, I joined Digital Equipment Corp. Derek did contact me regarding the detail he gave you, but I could not add any more as I was relatively new to the X-ray dept. at that time.

The Y290s I installed were:

Manchester University (with a colleague)
Shionogi Inc, Osaka Japan (with a colleague)
The Chemistry Dept, East Berlin University  (with a colleague)
Durham University
York University (I think I did this)
Christchurch University, New Zealand
Wellington Government Offices, New Zealand
University of Auckland, New Zealand
University of Bochum, West Germany
University of Moscow,  Russia  (and an exhibition in Akademgoradok, Siberia! )

I have fond memories of H&W and have kept in touch with Derek since those days.

I am sorry to say the Derek Goggrave passed away on the 14th April 2025, aged 93.
